Elizabeth  offers high-quality services to adults with speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of acquired neurological conditions in Guernsey.  

A client centred philosophy is adopted by our speech therapy practice and specific services will be based on individual client need. Typically our service includes:

• Comprehensive assessment of speech and language using a broad range of formal and informal speech, language and communication assessments and tools
• Assessment of swallowing including a risk assessment
• Diagnosis of speech, language and swallowing difficulties
• Individualised, person centred therapy plans
• Client centred goal setting
• Working as part of the multidisciplinary team as needed, with case managers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, medical and legal professionals
• Providing support and advice to family and care givers
• Swallowing rehabilitation using a variety of tools and techniques
• Assessment of communication and swallowing of people with tracheostomies
• Assessment and treatment of those in low awareness states e.g. persistent vegetative state, minimally conscious state etc.
• medico -legal/expert witness reports for personal injury, medical negligence, fitness to practice and criminal cases

The people that I work with will usually have one of the following diagnoses:

• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
• Stroke
• Progressive neurological diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease or Motor Neurone Disease
• Dementia
• Neuro-oncology

We regularly work with people with one or more of these speech and language therapy diagnoses:

• aphasia
• dysphasia
• apraxia
• dyspraxia
• dysphonia/voice
• cognitive-communication difficulties
• dysphagia
• dysarthria
• 
  

Elizabeth  regularly works with case managers  providing assessment and treatment to people following brain injury.
